REPORT

INTERVIEW WITH PROFESSOR TERESA FROM PORTUGAL

INTRODUCTION

This report outlines the interiew with professor Teresa from Portugal. The main topics discussed during the interview were education, culture, government and celebrations.

EDUCATION

We started asking Teresa wheter technology was used for learning in Portugal. She answered that technology had been introduced around 1995. Although there is now some technology at schools, it is rarely used for learning. Teresa hopes this situation changes but there are few teachers who thinks the same as her. After that, we talked about the relationship between teachers and students and she told us teachers were respected, but that there was always a "black sheep".

CULTURE

We focused on the differences between Portugal and Brazil. Teresa explained that Brazilian people were more active and that they really enjoy life while Portuguese people are more tranquil. Besides, their customs differ a lot. The main thing they share is the language.

GOVERNMENT

Teresa described clearly the complex situation her country is undergoing. She said the same political party had been running the country for many years and the current policies are not favorable for people, so they complain very often by going on strike or doing demonstrations.

CELEBRATIONS

Teresa described their main celebration, she said it lasted a week and people commemorated Saints. She also answered Christmas as a really nice event.

CONCLUSION

All in all, the experience was interesting and enriching since we knew little about Portugal. Moreover, Teresa gave us a lot of informaton that would have been very different if wehad read it from a book. Besides, we realised thaht many of the problems they have in the country are similar to ours.
